Lee C W,
He will walk down the aisle on Nov 9 with former national number one Wong Mew Choo, his girlfriend of 11 years.
Lee said he would put everything into ensuring “a wedding that Wong has always dreamt of”.
“It is every woman's dream to have the best wedding, and I know how important it is to Mew Choo,” said Chong Wei. “I want to make her happy. I want to surprise her with something special. After all, she has waited for 11 years. I want to throw all my energy into my wedding preparations now,” he said, a day after edging China's Du Pengyu to win the title on his 30th birthday.
“It has been physically draining since the London Olympic Games, but I am happy that I am still able to win titles. Now, it's time to ensure Mew Choo has a memorable wedding,” he added.
In KUALA LUMPUR, Lee's elder brother Chong Hoon said the guest list was so long that the customary Chinese dinner would have to be held over two evenings to accommodate the 2,500 guests.
The private tea ceremony takes place at their home on Nov 9. It will be attended by their family, relatives and closest friends.
This will be followed by two dinners - one on the same night and another on Nov 10 - at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. These are expected to be attended by sports personalities, local and foreign dignitaries and business associates.
